Ernest Shackleton: old vs new

Back
A study of Sir Ernest Shackleton's 1914-17 clothing, kit and equipment from the 'Endurance' expedition.

To highlight the struggles and triumphs of the famous explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, and to examine the kit and clothing worn by early polar explorers, the twins set out to cross the Greenland iceland. Starting on the west coast near Kangerlussuaq - under the guidance of record breaking George Bullard, using replica kit from Shackleton’s 1914-17 expedition, the route took them 555km across the ice cap to the east via the abandoned DYE II radar station. Unfortunately, Hugo sustained a knee injury resulting a helicopter evacuation after two weeks from Dye 2 radar station.
